We thought that the best way to start your approach with our culture might be the projection of a great piece of Italian cinematic culture: “Ladri di Biciclette”
Storyline
The film tells the story of Antonio Ricci, an unemployed man in post-World War II Rome who finally gets a job putting up posters. However, the job requires a bicycle, and soon after starting work, his bicycle is stolen.
Desperate to provide for his family, Antonio and his young son, Bruno, search the city for the stolen bike. As they struggle through the streets of Rome, they face indifference, false leads, and mounting hopelessness… we’re not going to spoil any further!
This film is a powerful depiction of poverty, dignity, and the struggles of ordinary people, making it one of the most influential films in cinema history.
