Looking for a house

If you have not yet found accommodation, we recommend that you arrive in Pisa at the beginning of the week (Monday or Tuesday), because you will have more chances to find help in the offices in charge and you can travel by public transport. For the first few days in Pisa, if you have not yet found accommodation, you can take a room at the Hostel Pisa, which has an agreement with Esn-Pisa.

Finding a home

To find a good room in Pisa, it is preferable to start the search before the start of the lessons (we recommend arriving in the first half of September if you come for a year). The university does not have an office to help you look for a house, and it is not even convenient to rent a room on the internet, because you need to see the apartment where you will live for 6 months / 1 year before taking it.

How to look for a house

The methods to look for a house are the same as in all university cities: advertisements in the places most frequented by universities, such as canteens, study rooms, etc. Real estate agencies are very expensive, and they don't always offer great service. Try posting in our group or searching other facebook groups.

Double rooms are easier to find

As people are mainly looking for single rooms, it is cheaper to look for a place in a double room.

Beware of home owners

Always check the honesty of the homeowners: for example, check that, upon your arrival, everything is in working order, that any repairs are at the owner's expense, that he gives you the bills in order to pay for actual consumption, etc.

The price of rent

The price depends on the distance from the center, the proximity of the university and the services in the area. A good price for a single room is between € 300 and € 350, while a good place in a double room is between € 200 and € 250. Do not trust prices that are too low, because they will almost always be accompanied by some problems.

Expenses

It is essential to inquire about what expenses are included in the cost of the rent (electricity, condominium, water, etc.). The deposit is for 1 or 2 months and will be returned to you at the end of the contract (if there have been no problems)

Always ask for a contract

Always ask for contracts from the homeowner (so you will always and only pay what is due), and sign a contract stating that you have paid a deposit and its amount.
